Training Day Courses for Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th September

We are providing day courses of focused training in the two days preceding ACUE Summer School, enabling the participants to have greater freedom with their choice of workshops, having done the 'main' thing on Weds. This makes the Summer School experience more complete! Please make your booking.
The courses are not free, please check Registration page for price details, use the Apply page to apply.
one day courses

  • Please Reply urgently if you are interested in any of these, we have to finalise numbers.
  • It is essential you bring a LAPTOP to get the best out of these 1-day specials. If you do not have one, you can try on a first-come-first-serve basis to rent one from Bite. Ask ArchiCAD University Secretariat
  • ArchiCAD for Beginners [Tuesday] - a one day tour through ArchiCAD for beginners, from setting up, basic modelling, sections and views, placing objects and openings, getting out renders etc, and linking to 2D output. This is a good course to do prior to one of the Tuesday specials on the ArchiCAD Office or on Lightworks. Course outline
  • Lightworks Rendering [Wednesday] - Lighting, Materials, rendering settings, photoshop, - the whole presentation vision. - see the more detailed Course outline. Plenary Space
  • The ArchiCAD Office [Wednesday] - Organising Practice standards, master layouts, templates and libraries, DWG/DXF interchange, for efficient use of ArchiCAD in the small office. - see the more detailed Course outline. Gallery A-B.
  • None of the above - reset buttons

If the experiment of having one-day courses is a success, we may add future subjects to the programme, such as GDL, Moviemaking, and Webdesign, in 2007 if there is enough demand. The previously advertised courses in Ecotect and Sketchup Advanced will not run, due to insufficient bookings.

Time: Courses will be 10am to 6pm, giving people time to travel up in the morning if they are close enough. Tuesday, delegates take lunch in Portland Building. Lunch will be brought to the building on Wednesday.
Costs: see Registration Info for details of costs.

On this form, sending this does not bind you to attend, it is an indication of interest. Follow up with an email to the organiser, or make a full application on the Application page. Residential accommodation will be provided in Lincoln Hall (same as for the Summer School weekend). Lunch and refreshments are included.

  • Those staying for the whole ACUE event get these more cheaply. Please indicate your interest for this option. This will satisfy those who are looking for hard training input, and would also give them some certification as a record of training.
  • Accommodation is in nearby Derby Hall, and evening meal in a pub off campus.
  • Courses start at 10.00 a.m. in the Studio Block of the School of the Built Environment next to Paton House giving you time to get to Nottingham if you live closer enough. You are advised to come up on Tuesday evening if you are doing a Wednesday course if you live more than 2-3 hours drive away.... Please advise organiser if you need this.
  • We need to know approximate numbers for courses well in advance, as we have to book flights for the overseas tutors.
  • If you wish to indicate your interest in these workshops, you can also go on to the ArchiCAD-University Community Portal in which you can read more detailed descriptions and submit votes for workshops in the POLL section.
  • Re: the Ecotect course and the ArchiCAD Beginners course: if you buy a full licence between June and Sept 10 the course fee is free, or if you have already paid, it will be fully refunded. (You can buy it on line, off the website.
