The
2006 ArchiCAD Summer School has happened!
A record number of participants took part, with almost 140 people
from a dozen countries, spread over the 5 days: Nightingale Hall
is an excellent venue for a large conference with ample meeting
spaces, wonderful food and a good bar.
The event was started on Tuesday 5th by two training days, Archicad
10 Introduction by Bite, and on Wednesday 6th, the Archicad
10 Office by Andreas Lettner. The Main Event starting
Thursday was highlighted by two completely energising and inspiring
presentations by our two main guests, Tom Cederqvist from
Finland and Michel Rojkind from Mexico. Friday started with
a very thorough and reassuring presentation from Graphisofts UK
and HU. The remainder of Friday and Saturday were the familiar mixture
of Plenary presentations and small group Workshops, spread through
Nightingale Hall - filling the bar, the library and common rooms
with activity and light.
The event concluded with a very enjoyable dinner in Nottingham
city centre, Saturday night. As far as we know, all the delegates
have returned home safely, and the event is complete. See the Reports
and Feedback pages for further detail and photographs - these
will be created and filled during the weeks after the Summer School.
Archicad 10 was the flavour of the event, but as it had
been out since April, the theme was Migration to Archicad 10.
Many people have received the upgrade, but are nervous about the
right time to make the change - either in themselves or in projects
that are in design or on site. Archicad 10 itself was in every workshop,
with tutors using every opportunity to ease the path of migration.
