Name Did you find the Skiing/Snowboarding facilities acceptable? Was the Berggasthof acceptable? (or chalets if you were in them) Was the Teaching/Learning content interesting enough for you? Did you find the event socially rewarding? Do you consider the event acceptable value for money? General comment / testimonial
Rob James, Shrewsbury As an intermediate boarder (HA HA), I found most of the runs to short for my liking so spent most of the time on the chair and long T-bar runs. Having said that, there was still enough to test me as we all saw on the Saturday night!!! Conditions could not have been more perfect. Management, food & drink were brilliant! Bedroom a little cold. Could've done with somewhere to really relax with some big couches! Can't beat the location for accessability to slopes - fabulous views, perfect weather. Some of the presentations were very interesting and was really impressed with Maxonform! Definitely! This was one of the biggest things for me, met so many interesting people and new contacts/friends. Not bad. To be honest, I was in Germany the week before and it worked out cheaper, the boarding was better to. That said, I will be back next year - I found the whole event very sociable! I think asking people to take part in a project was maybe not the best idea. I for one was there to get away from work and try to learn more about ArchiCAD! Without DNC, I don`t think ACWS would happen!!

James Bennett, Nottingham

I found them very acceptable. I have not been to a ski resort before so I don't know how it compares, but I personally thought the slopes were a lot of fun. Yes, very comfortable. The food was delicious, the drink was tasty, and the location was unbeatable Above the clouds! Yes, I wanted to learn more about ArchiCAD, and I did, thanks to the tutoring of the other attenders. Some of the evening workshops were a bit over my head considering I didn't know anything about ArchiCAD, but still interesting. I feel that the projects were taken a bit too seriously to begin with by some of the team leaders. Indeed I did. Made lots of new friends, both on and off piste. I do, I have been told that the price was very good for a skiing holiday, and combined with the ArchiCAD tuition made it even better value for money. Great! I would love to come again, but I can't say for sure whether I will be able to in final year!
Mette Mikklesen, Aarhus, Denmark For me it was perfect, good runs with both short and long ones. Nice place... Everyone was taking good care of us. I liked that it was kind of a private place for the Winter school. Good and interresting lectures. Maybe there could have been a course for a little more advanced ArchiCAD for the users that have already been working with the program and have different kinds of problems. I figured out some of my own problems during the week, but there was not much time to ask the better users for questions. Yes. Yes. I hope this will not be my last ArchiCad Winter school, but maybe I will not be able to go next year because of my final project at school.....
Philip Caine, Weston super Mare Although the runs and scope for skiing are very limited, it is still very unusual to find a resort with such easy access straight from the hotel door and few queues. Some may expect higher standards of accommodation and more en-suite facilities but I am used to skiing holidays in large groups. It is usual to share rooms and to have fairly basic accommodation. The hotel is warm and cosy. The food is very good and of traditional Austrian style which is welcome. Very interesting and some of it very useful and thought provoking. Unfortunately the setting in the dining room makes it difficult to follow or difficult to hear at times. Extremely socially rewarding. Yes – refer to question on quality of accommodation – I prefer to keep the cost down rather than have a luxury hotel Once again a very rewarding week and quite a few tips and tricks to take away.
Richard Payne and family, Shrewsbury Yes (we) did. There are still lots of challenges for skiers of our (limited) ability. Equipment hire seems a bit random and Shirley had problem finding boots that fitted well - she had to be quite firm about wanting to change her boots. We like the accommodation and sort of like the less than luxurious facilities. Tom says he wants a toilet seat that stays up. Can't fault the hospitality of Alex, Claudia, Nicole and Anita. Food excellent again. Drink - far too much. Location - who can complain about the location - we have no desire to be closer to shops/clubs/etc. (Old fogies, I guess) The teaching/learning stuff is just about right. I am glad the 'project' stuff slipped away, its not what I go for. Its good to talk to different people about how they use AC and pick up tips and tricks. I particularly enjoyed the presentations by Herbert and Damian. I would happily talk about all sorts of rather dry stuff such as 'office standards' but maybe the summer school is better for more 'academic' type things. The students presentations were good this year. Its mainly the social interaction I go for. Its like a big family and it makes me feel good to be a part of the AC community. Yes, we think it is _good _value for money. Health and wealth permitting - we will definitely come again. I want to give special thanks to Reinhard who seems to work very hard but is quiet and is often not noticed and Andreas who, apart from all the background work, was wonderful for Tomas and helped him so much with his skiing, and, of course, what would we do without David and his little bell? We had our best skiing holiday yet and Tom had such a good time when we returned the ski equipment he was slumped on the bench in the ski hire place sobbing with disappointment that it was all over for another year.
Stefan Brorsen, Copenhagen Yes. A small area, but the challenge made it fun (37 min and 5 sec.) I found it nice that there were so short queus for the lifts. The chalet was nice. Sauna a big plus.

A shame that there were no program posted on the first day. I didn't learn enough.(Editor's note: but you left on Thursday morning and the only 'teaching evenings' had been Monday and Tuesday - you missed all the later teaching events).

Definitely! Good people and a lot of fun. Well - I wish we were more personally involved in the night time. More workshop - less presentation. Will be back next year. The ideas you have about skiing events sound like great fun.
Odd Goderstad, Oslo, Norway Runs, lifts: Yes , they were OK, not fantastic, but OK. Skihire: Great skis, nice price Queues, distance to pistes: Can it get any better? I think it is close to ideal for this event, the main thing is not skiing...? Accommodation: well....cold bedrooms, short bed, low doors Management: Nice people, like them Comfort: What comfort!? Food: Lovely! Drink: Yes, quite a few, tasted excellent, usually does.. Location: Good

Would be nice with something more advanced ArchiCAD, and GDL (Geek stuff)

Absolutely Yes It was great, I am already trying to find ways to convince my boss to send me again next year...! And maybe a little less focus on the skiing. Some people have to convince their bosses..... I had a great time Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bengt Kalderen, Copenhagen Yes acceptable, but not sufficient for me for a whole week. Not even with personal challenge. But maybe the fine weather contributed to setting the standard a bit higher. Yes fine, staff was very friendly, food was nice, drinks were good, location on top of the hill just super.

Didn't really get a chance to do any real Archicad. Did a lot of networking which was nice. Great to meet everyone. Maybe I'll get some more ArchiCad next year.

Yes, very much so, Everybody seemed friendly and outgoing. Nice touch to the seminar. Yes, absolutely Will come next year for sure. Maybe the scheme for afternoon and evening activities could be greater and I support more organised skiing to improve social interaction.
Daniel Dusoswa, Kenmare, Ireland The skiing was great, could not be better. A mountain all for ourselves without queues at lifts, always meeting somebody for a chat somewhere or to meet up to jointly to go down a piste learning from each other. We could not wish better. The attention everybody got was second to none. We truly felt looked after! I want to go back!!!!

As always, even if there only a few items of interest then the learning is a well worth it! This time with hands-on Maxonform and Nautilus, made my learning week. Pity that the long awaited new version of ArchiTerra has not surfaced as yet. You know what I thought about the old version..... (Editor's Note: The launch will be linked to the launch of Nautilus)

That is rewarding... It is starting to feel more and more like meeting old friends. It was so great to meet you all again. Another few I missed, I hope that they will come next year again. Talking to my brother and friends I realize that we are getting a great deal, the overall cost including ski pass is great value for money. Anywhere else would cost us a lot more! In a good few conversations with various delegates, we discussed the MIX we have at the moment: 1) Great friends and interesting people we want to meet 2) Learning content in the evening 3) Lots of snow 4) well maintained pistes on which everybody can find their own challenge 5) Anchor point Edelweiss, guaranteed that is where everybody meets up again 6) Owners and staff of Edelweiss 7) Good value for money 8) no queuing at lifts 9) Not being a number between thousands 10) Knowing every year where we come back to, no surprise I can keep on and on.
Robert Buehler, Switzerland and Nottingham They were limited, but it had potential, us being the only ones on the runs had great benefits! Ski hire was a good price, not sure about ski/ snowboard lessons, but think they were acceptable as well. Next time I go, I would probably take my snowboard with me and improve my jump and freestyle skills rather than skiing or do a mix of both. Everything amazing for what we paid! The food was great, the chalets lovely, everyone extremely friendly.

Difficult to say, as I was a beginner to ArchiCAD, I am sure that next time I would probably benefit much more from it, but it was nice to be able to chat to practitioners as well as the developers to see were the program is going. I think that the last two days were packed with presentations which ended up being rushed though, I would probably suggest to spread some of those out more (have at the beginning of the week) to give the topics their justice and leave time for discussion Ý this might however also just be my opinion because I wasn‚t taking part in the power hour but instead was at the beginners workshop.

It was very nice to mingle with a variety of people from all over! I probably had a bonus of being able to speak German, but overall it was rewarding to get in touch with people in the industry. Absolutely! Especially because the ski pass is included! I had a great time, and would definitely consider going again next year! I would like to have know how to use ArchiCAD before, I would have probably attempted something on maxonForm and would have had the expertise around me for help! I thought on the last night there were quite a few presentation I would have liked to ask or find more out about, but due to it being the last night this was difficult.
