Cost for the Winter School

This is a user-funded cultural occasion, so we calculate the price to cover costs as safely and as closely as possible for the numbers of delegates we expect. We have to charge enough to fund the tutors some of whom are also paying to be there. There is no sponsor to pick up the balance if it loses - so we have to balance the figures carefully - but this year, it's cheaper than last year. The rooms are in configurations or 2s and 3s. Some twin rooms have ensuite, some rooms do not. Our suggested price is in Euros - you won't find a ski holiday in a hotel this cheap anywhere, even without the ArchiCAD content! ArchiCAD Winter School is Non-Profit making, we work to make it as cheap for you as we can! Any residual profit is recycled towards startup costs for the next event.

Costs in 2006 are less than for 2005, except for those with the ensuite option. The Edelweiss have offered us banded prices for with or without en-suite bathrooms. Although it makes it more complicated, it gives people choice.

The adult cost for ArchiCAD users:
    -With Ensuite bathroom 630 euros (430 pounds)
    -Corridor bathroom 580 euros (395 pounds)
        Single room supplement 100 euros (70 pounds)
        (but do not ask for single rooms unless absolutely necessary).

Concessionary prices:
Students / Spouse/ non-ArchiCAD-using Partners / Friends/ Children 15+/ Distressed Economy (e.g. Africa) :
        440 euros (300 pounds) in the hotel or the chalet.
Children under 15 - 390 euro (265pounds).

Chalet family users all eat in the Edelweiss. It is assumed that the concessionary prices take pot luck with the bathrooms.

This includes:

  • SEVEN nights in Edelweiss, with breakfasts and evening dinners,
  • All ski-lift passes, including cablecar,
  • Return transport by bus from Linz Airport,
  • ArchiCAD tuition element,
  • Broadband internet connection.

What else do you pay for?

  • Getting to Linz or Feuerkogel.
  • Beer, hot chocolate, coffee, strudel, schnapps... you choose!
  • Ski hire - about €85 for adult hire.
  • Lunches - available at a budget price approx €8.50/day
  • Ski tuition if you are a total beginner. Worth paying for.

Berghotel and Chalets

We hope most of you are willing to share, this is quite common in low-cost skiing holidays; thus we can all pack cosily into the Edelweiss. If too many people opt for the single room supplement which takes an entire twin room, we will have to rent overflow accommodation in the chalets in blocks of 12.
We get a good budget lunch deal from the Edelweiss for lunches, or you can eat a la carte.

If you are interested in coming book the flight soon, and let organiser know soon, as we need to know if we have enough to book the chalet.
